80s migrational BIKE tour

May 13th, 2010

How COOL would it be to BIKE around D-stadt with friends DRESSED up in 80’s style, to check out LOCAL bars while promoting a great cause? Exactly, UNBELIEVABLE cool!!!!!

Our first stop will be Linie 3i at 7 PM on May 12th, and the rest of the tour is a surprise!!! We have already spoken to bars owners to give us discounts on beers and have warned them that creative people are stopping by.

and what is the GREAT CAUSE?
we are living in a colorful world: so many cultural and even little D-stadt is getting its best out of it. we want to promote that we INHABITANTS of SMALL cities (just like d-stadt) are happy to welcome all colors.
and why the EIGHTIES?
colorful – okay! got it? and ACTUALLY we would be interested about what person you know from the eighties who did something for MIGRANTS or SOCIAL INTERCHANGE. spot it and dress up like this person.

The dress code is compulsory- come one you don’t want to be the odd one out!!!!

– serious explanatory text –
But to make a bit different than just 80’s wear, we are adding another LAYER OF EXCITEMENT. Given we have created this event to promote Immigration day, we would like you to do some homework. Please research an important Benevolent figurehead or person from the 80s from a country different than yours.

For example, I am interested in Angola, so I would do some research to learn about Angolans in the 80s. Suriname has also sparkled my interest, so I would be interested in “googling up” people in that period.

You don’t necessarily need to dress up like the person you have researched, but you can. This is just an exercise to extend your knowledge about different cultures and people!

Be creative!!!!

Looking forward to an amusing bike tour on MAY 12th and a moving event on JUNE 20th,
Max, Carol and Jula.
